Na de oorlog is de Wibautstraat in Amsterdam als een stadboulevard aangelegd waarvoor het historisch weefsel van de stad gesloopt is en vaak opnieuw gevuld met kolossen van een totaal andere schaal. Op veel plekken zijn de lidtekens nog zichtbaar, zo ook op de hoek waarvoor dit plan is gemaakt. Het voorstel is om het gesloopte deel van een woningblok (19e eeuws) op eigentijdse wijze te reconstrueren waarbij de schaal van het huidige blok uitgangspunt is.
After WW2 the Wibautstraat in Amsterdam was constructed as a boulevard while the historic texture of the city was demolished. New large-scale blocks replaced the original 19th century houses. Many scars are still visible, also at the corner where this plot is situated. The proposal is to reconstruct the demolished part of the housing block in a contemporary way. The scale of the still existing part is the basis.
