Op een straathoek in een bosachtige villawijk, eind negentiende eeuw ontstaan en met veelheid aan villa’s in allerlei bouwstijlen, lag een verwaarloosde bungalow uit de jaren zeventig.
Een gedeelte van het oorspronkelijke gebouw is opgenomen in het nieuwe ontwerp. Dat plan verdeelt het huis in vier zones, het voorhuis, de spleet (gap), een techniekstrook en de tuinzone. Deze zonering is zichtbaar op ieder niveau, bijvoorbeeld in de vloerafwerking. De tuin is op dezelfde zonering gebaseerd.
Het ruimtelijk structurerend element is de ‘gap’, een dubbelhoge ruimte waar de trappen gesitueerd zijn.
Het gebouw is voorzien van buitengevelisolatie die wit gepleisterd is. Het dak is gedekt met zwarte leipannen.
On a corner plot in a forested villa neighbourhood, originated in the 19th century and with a diversity of houses, a bungalow of the seventies in poor condition could be purchased.
A small part of the original building, (mainly the basement) is integrated in the new structure. The new house consists four zones, the front, gap, technical and garden zone. These zones are visible at every level, for example in the floors. The garden is also designed in the same zoning.
Main spatial principle is the ‘gap’, a double high space were the conscious designed stairs are positioned. This gap divides front– and backhouse.
The house is well insulated and elevations are rendered with white plaster. The roof is covered with slate-like roof tiles.
