Het programma vroeg om een Marokkaans huis in een Nederlandse situatie. Het bestuderen van traditionele Arabische woonvormen was de start van dit project. O.a. vanwege klimaataspecten kunnen deze woonvormen niet letterlijk worden overgenomen.
Het idee kent drie uitgangspunten:
- Gebruik van gangbare locale bouwtechniek, bouwmuren en kanaalplaten, vanwege het beperkte budget.
- De centrale (Arabische) patio hier omgevormd tot trappenhuis met vides.
- Het gebruik van geabstraheerde versiering, vanuit religieuze (islamitische) overwegingen, wat resulteerde in fenomenale natuurstenen raamroosters. Hier worden eigentijdse (standaard) metalen roosters gebruikt op de zonnige zuidgevel.
The competition program asked for a Moroccan house in a Dutch context. The project started with studies of traditional Arabic forms of habitation. Due to climatic reasons these cannot be literally exported.
The idea was based on three elements:
- Use the typical Dutch construction of load baring walls and concrete floors while the budget was small.
- The central Arabic court is made into central stairs with void.
- Arabs use abstract decoration, due to religious facts, which results in fantastic window grating. These metal contemporary gratings can be used for the sunny, south elevation.
